NW Radiology Group

TRA Medical Imaging (TRA), a leading medical imaging provider in the South Sound, today announced the acquisition of Olympia-based Northwest Radiology Group, LLC, effective June 1, 2009. The main office of Northwest Radiology Group is located at 500 Lilly Road NE, in the Memorial Medical Plaza. Under the agreement, Northwest Radiology Group’s owner, Randall Patten, M.D. and staff will become TRA employees.
"The physicians and staff of Northwest Radiology Group have created a trustworthy and valued radiology practice with a reputation for caring staff and experienced radiologists," said Michael T. Dowd, M.D., Radiologist and President of TRA Medical Imaging. "Partnering with Northwest Radiology Group provides us with a convenient location in the Olympia market that operates under a similar philosophy of providing superior service and care complementary to our own. We believe that a collaboration of Northwest Radiology Group and TRA Medical Imaging will be a positive step for our doctors, patients, employees, and the medical community in the region."

TRA Part of Unique Collaboration to Create a Breast Health
Center of Excellence
With as many as 60,000 breast-imaging studies annually, the new Carol Milgard Breast Center will be a centralized, regional source for breast imaging and diagnostic services
Three leading local health care organizations, Franciscan Health System, MultiCare Health System, and TRA Medical Imaging announced the creation of a state-of-the-art breast center for residents of Tacoma and the entire Puget Sound region. They are joined by the Gary E. Milgard Family Foundation, a Tacoma-based private philanthropic organization, that has committed $5 million toward the development of the center.
The three largest providers of breast imaging services in the area are pooling their resources and collaborating on the creation of this state-of-the-art facility to offer the highest quality diagnostic care while significantly reducing the time from screening to diagnosis. The $16 million, not-for-profit Carol Milgard Breast Center will open in Tacoma during the first quarter of 2009.

TRA Introduces "Time of Flight" PET-CT scanner
- the fastest and most accurate PET-CT Scanner on the
West Coast
TRA is proud to be the first on the West Coast
to offer Philips Gemini Time of Flight PET-CT scanner.
Positron Emission Tomography
(PET) scan and PET-CT (the combination of PET and Computed
Tomography—CT)
is used to diagnose cancer and other diseases as early
as possible.
This particular PET-CT
features a breakthrough in PET imaging technology called “Time of Flight” which
allows for increased imaging sensitivity and faster
imaging times. It is technology
physicists have worked on for over 20 years!
For heavier patients, imaging
sensitivity has always been a problem as image clarity
is impacted as patient
weight increases. “Time
of Flight” technology has the ability to “even out the field” so
that image quality and the accuracy of the exam remain
constant even for the heaviest of patients. Click
here for more information about PET-CT offered at TRA Medical Imaging.
