Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring the integrity and effective performance of the accounting function and providing accounting support to company management in order to help the organization achieve fiscal goals. This position requires knowledge and thorough understanding of the accounting function: accounting theory, general ledger structure, cash-basis accounting, accrual-basis accounting, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, financial management reporting, and financial analysis.
The Staff Accountant works closely with the Accounting Manager to ensure that the company’s accounting function is performed timely, effectively and efficiently. The responsibilities of the Staff Accountant include but are not limited to: maintaining the general ledger accounts; reconciling general ledger accounts; performing financial analysis of general ledger accounts; allocating financial activity to locations and modalities; preparing journal entries; processing bank deposits; preparing bank reconciliations; performing month- and year-end closing procedures; preparing financial management reports; assisting with development of policies, procedures and internal controls; and other duties as assigned.Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Accounting Manager
