Senior Accountant/Accounting Analyst
Under the direction of the Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the integrity and effective performance of the accounting function, and providing accounting support to company management, in order to help the organization achieve fiscal goals. This position requires knowledge and thorough understanding of the accounting function: accounting theory, general ledger structure, cash-basis accounting, accrual-basis accounting, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, financial management reporting, accounting for fixed assets, and financial analysis.
The Senior Accountant works closely with the Controller to ensure that the company’s accounting function is performed timely, effectively and efficiently. The responsibilities of the Senior Accountant/ Accounting Analyst include, but are not limited to: maintaining the general ledger accounts; reconciling general ledger accounts; performing financial analysis of general ledger accounts; allocating financial activity to locations and modalities; preparing journal entries; processing bank deposits; preparing bank reconciliations; generating bills for management fees charged to companies under management; generating bills for external clients; performing month- and year-end closing procedures; preparing financial management reports; assisting with development of policies, procedures and internal controls; preparing state, city, and other municipality tax returns (excise, business and occupation, personal property, etc.); and fixed asset accounting. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of projects. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Performs other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will display a high level of attention to detail, initiative, a strong sense of urgency, and possess robust organization, problem resolution, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. To be successful, the candidate will posses knowledge and thorough understanding of the accounting function and related internal controls, a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (with a concentration in Accounting or Finance), 5+ years accounting experience, 2+ years of Financial Analysis experience, have excellent analytical skills, and will be proficient with Great Plains and Microsoft Excel. General healthcare industry knowledge preferred, but not required.
